A friend of UPOP, Jordan Page, is stopping by the studio tomorrow. These are just a few things people in the music industry are saying about the music of Jordan Page. It is obvious at first listen that Page's album "The Book of Life" is a powerful and groundbreaking recording of original songs. Jordan's unique sound, a bridge between hard rock and acoustic rock, has been gaining him fans everywhere he goes. Influences like Jeff Buckley, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, the Doors, U2, and Alice in Chains can be heard in his songs, but the content and character of his music are drawn from his own life's experiences. We got to meet the Golden Knoghts. In 1959 13 men joined together to form the Strategic Army Corps Sport Parachute Team, to compete in the then communist dominated sport of skydiving. The team performed so well that on June 1, 1961 the Army officially recognized, designated and activated the team as the U.S. Army Parachute Team. For more than 44 years the "Golden Knights" have been wowing audiences at air shows, competitions and most recently, with high profile tandems. (Read More Here)

November 1, 2007: UPOP Artist Spotlight - Katie Melua
All month UPop is featuring every song from Katie Melua's new CD "Pictures" We're playin' the whole damn thing...'cause it's just that good!
Since the release of her debut album 'Call Off The Search' in 2003, the 22 year old has achieved astonishing success. Upop was the world's first satellite radio channel to debut Katie Melua. In 2004 and 2005 she was ranked the best selling female artist in Britain and in 2006 became the best selling British female artist in the world with sales of her first album and the follow up, 2005's 'Piece By Piece', have now topped 7.5 million. What are her thoughts about recording on an independent record label.
Katie shared the following: I would recommend an Indie definitely because, the thing with a major label is that, its such a powerful business, and there are so many other artists on there that their focus will be split between hundreds of artists. Whereas, independent labels will usually have about 20 or 30 artists on their roster, depending on the size of it.
It depends on the kind of music you want to do. If you're a serious musician try to know what you want out of yourself and get the music right on your own well before you go to any label. Then you'll have as much creative control. Also ask for as much creative control as you can, but still be perceptive and listen to others and don't let that just be your mum or your friends, let that be industry people. Surround yourself with good people who you trust and are professional and will do their best to get your music heard.
